A tale of two weddings

Two weddings for members of the same family in one week!

We were initially contacted by Juliette to photograph her truly unique themed wedding. She and future husband Les were getting married in their local village hall near Bromsgrove in Worcestershire, and the wedding was to be themed as a 1945 VE Day tea party with all of the guests arriving in period dress!

As if that wasn't enough, they were doing it within the same week as Juliette's son Jim was marrying his sweetheart Lisa, as many of their family were travelling from as far as Australia, and the United States and would not be back in the UK for a long time!

So, we first had to meet both couples to discuss their plans individually. Jim and Lisa, were having a traditional Scottish themed church wedding complete with kilts and bagpipes, followed by a reception in a converted farm barn a few minutes away from the church.

After chatting with Lisa, we found that she wanted lots of girly getting ready photos at her hotel, followed by group photos of Jim and his groomsmen at the church. During our discussions, we were told that a local philanthropist lived next door to the church in a beautifull grand house complete with stately ornate gardens and grounds, and had agreed to let the couple have their photos in his gardens! Armed with this knowledge, we visited the "big" house together and took a stroll around the grounds to establish a suitable photo route on the day of their wedding.

Juliette's wedding was to take place at Worcester central registry office, and from there, we were to make our way to the village hall about 20 minutes away. On the way, Juliette told us there was a lovely country lane covered with trees on both sides that she would like some pictures of her and Les walking down. Once found and mentally logged for our future plans, we then passed a little cottage that looked like it was still in the 1940s. Perfect for a couple of shots of Juliette and Les. A quick knock on the door, and the owner graciously agreed to allow us to take some photos in his garden on the big day.

The plans started to take shape, and we decided that as everyone else was getting into the 1940's spirit, Sandra and I decided we should too. In no time, we had sourced our wedding outfits. Sandra's a land girl, and mine an RAF wing commander. (Alright, I couldn't resist!)

During the week of the two weddings, both Sandra and I were made to feel so welcome by all of the guests, and we had an absolutely brilliant time! Thanks everyone!
